Clients want to know their site was patrolled; managers need incident reports they can rely on; and when something goes wrong, the photos may be all there is. Each time, the photo has to answer three questions beyond doubt: when, where, and has it been changed.

Proof of patrol

A photo at each checkpoint, such as a locked door, a fence line, a fire exit or a car park, with the time and place on it, shows the patrol was done and when. It's simple, needs no extra hardware, and shows the state of each point, not just that someone passed it.

  • Photograph the same checkpoints in the same order on each patrol.
  • Include what matters at each one: the lock, the closed gate, the alarm panel showing it's set.
  • Photograph anything out of place: an open window, a light out, a damaged fence.

Incidents

When an incident happens, photos and video taken at the time are vital evidence for the client, the police or insurers.

  • Photograph the scene, damage, vehicles and number plates, and anything left behind.
  • Record a short video if it's safe to do so. With Timesnap, the clock ticks on every frame, so the timing of events is clear.
  • Don't edit, crop or filter the photos. Keep the originals.
  • Follow your company's policies and the law on recording people.

Why ordinary phone photos fall short

A photo's date comes from the phone's clock, which can be wrong or changed, and it's lost when the photo is sent on WhatsApp. A client who doubts a patrol report, or a lawyer questioning an incident, will ask how you know when the photo was taken. "My phone said so" is a weak answer.

Using Timesnap for security work

Each Timesnap photo and video shows the verified time (from the internet, never the phone's clock), the site's address and a code. The client can check any photo on timesnap.info and see its time, the place on a map, and whether anything in it was changed. Timesnap Pro adds security stamp designs, your company logo on every photo, PDF reports to attach to incident logs, and Google Drive backup.
